The Alaska Green Party Organizing Committee would love to hear from YOU!! We are currently holding strategic planning meetings via Zoom and encourage you to join us as we work together to create a productive and unified state party!
We are inviting you to get involved in any way you can, as we reorganize as a grassroots, democratic, participatory Green Party of Alaska.
2021 has started off with our country facing monumental changes, and those changes have extended to the Alaska Green Party.
On August 13, 2020 the Green Party of Alaska issued a press release that stated that the GPAK would not be supporting the national candidate that was nominated democratically at the Green Party National Convention. The decision, made unilaterally by only a few active members, violated the criteria required to maintain accreditation as a state party, and as of January 11, 2021, the Green Party of Alaska has been disaffiliated from the Green Party of the United States.
Due to this consequence, it is up to US, the remaining registered Greens, to reorganize, recharge, and apply for re-affiliation with the national Green Party once we’ve established a democratic structure and process.
As Alaska residents, we know that our state is facing unique challenges like:
- Rapid and severe climate change as Alaska continues to warm faster than any other state
- Continued parceling and profiteering of wildlife refuge lands
- Ongoing exploitation of Alaska’s people and resources
Despite the serious challenges we face from the local to national level, WE can use our diverse voices and strengths to create rational solutions.
We will be sending out email updates from time to time, but to become part of this organizing committee, please fill out this short questionnaire.
